In this time and generation, a lot of people gain popularity on the internet by posting various contents, such as videos.
Internet-famous people eventually make a living out of it by consistently coming up with creative contents to post online.
Wu Yongning, for instance, is a Chinese rooftop climber who is famous for doing daredevil skyscraper stunts without safety equipment, and he filmed and made short videos of them, which he posted on the social network, Weibo. He has thousands of followers who became concerned when he stopped posting in November.
More recently, a news about his death has emerged, and it was eventually confirmed by his girlfriend. He died on November 8 after falling from a 62-story building in Changsha. He was reportedly doing the fatal stunt to win a big amount of prize money in a “rooftopping” challenge.
According to a family member, the “rooftopping” challenge had a prize money of 100,000 yuan (£11,300), but the nature of the competition and its sponsor were unclear. South China Morning Post quoted his step-uncle saying, “He planned to propose to his girlfriend (the day after the challenge). He needed the money for the wedding, and for medical treatment for his ailing mother.”
